Signal The Moment I Disconnect explores the relationship between technology, human connection, and the natural world. Using reimagined symbols of nature and humanity, alongside contrasting materials and fabrication methods, the work reflects the technology used to create it. Drawing in VR, Meakins reproduces these objects through thought and imagination rather than direct references. The work explores how creating in virtual spaces can change how we see and interact with the world around us, imagining places and experiences while never leaving the house. This project has been supported by the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries.
